420th Years of Partnership,
Shaping a Sustainable Future
Bangkok, Thailand – The National Research Council of Thailand, the Embassy of the Netherlands, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation proudly present The Thai – Dutch Floriculture Forum 2024, under the themed “Envision Innovation for Sustainable Floriculture Industry,” will be held on Thursday, 24th October 2024, at the Rama Garden Hotel, Bangkok. This prestigious event brings together leading floriculture experts and innovators more than 200 participants from Thailand and The Netherlands to explore the latest trends, technologies, and sustainable practices in the floricultural industry.
The forum will begin with a Flower Design Demonstration from the World Flower Council and will feature mini-exhibition booths displaying cutting-edge innovations in floriculture. Exhibitors include Sotus International, Kaset 32 Farm, the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, Phuket Rajabhat University, Coco Agriculture Co., Ltd., Kasetsart University, the Department of Horticulture, Nuclear Technology for Ornamental Plant Breeding, G.G.D Trading, Play La Ploen, the Horticultural Science Society of Thailand, and Horti Agri Next Asia by VNU Asia Pacific. These exhibitors will showcase products and services to introduce to the floriculture experts attending the event.

Mr. Remco van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Netherlands, stated: “In a world that cherishes the beauty and joy of flowers, we must also recognize the challenges faced by the floriculture sector due to climate change and its environmental impact. Dr. Klanarong Sriroth, National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) said that “Thailand and the Netherlands have maintained a strong and enduring partnership, characterized by ongoing collaboration in the field of agriculture. Thai researchers have leveraged insights and expertise gained from study visits to advance research and development in key areas such as precision agriculture, greenhouse crop production, post-harvest technology, off-season flower and ornamental plant cultivation, plant propagation, and tissue culture. The Netherlands’ role in organizing the World Horticultural Exposition has further underscored Thailand’s agricultural potential and soft power on the global stage. The two countries also share a long-standing trade relationship, including the export of Chiang Mai Pink is a classic cultivar of Curcuma originating from Thailand to the Netherlands. This is the result of a collaboration between the NRCT, through its activities promoting and supporting research and innovation, and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Thailand, under the project titled “Development of a Knowledge Center for Ornamental Plant Production Technology and Breeding”. NRCT recognizes the critical role of supporting research and innovation in the ornamental plant sector, which contributes to the sustainable development of Thailand’s economy and industry”
For the intensive program start with Dr. Klanarong Sriroth of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), who will present “Thailand Floriculture Hub; Ambition & Vision” and then follow with a various keynote speakers from The Netherlands companies such as Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Municipality of Westland, Agri Solutions Asia, Klasmann – Deilmann Asia Pacific and Priva South-East Asia. From the Thailand perspective, Thai speakers, who will discuss key developments and challenges within Thailand’s floriculture industry includes Koppert, G.G.D. Trading (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Play La Ploen Buriram, Thailand Institute of Science and Technological Research (TISTR), Aga Agro Co., Ltd., and VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., presenting “Horti Agri Next Asia 2025 – Thailand: A Gateway to Asia Horticulture.
Thai-Dutch Floriculture Forum 2024 promises to be a platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing innovations that will drive the floriculture and horticulture industries forward.
